Baseband - Definition
Baseband refers to a type of network that transmits a signal without modulation (conversion of digital signals to analog). To be able to send a computer’s signal over the analog telephone network, a modem is required to convert – or modulate – the signal. On baseband networks, which include the most popular standards such as Ethernet, the signal can be sent directly, without such processing.
