Chipset - Definition
A Chipset is a collection of integrated circuits, or microchips, that can be used together to serve a single function and are therefore manufactured and sold as a unit. They are the traffic cops of the computer, controlling data transfers between the processor, cache, system buses and peripherals. The most common chipset reference is the input/output (I/O) control chips of the motherboard.
