Mail Server - Definition
A Mail Server is a networked computer dedicated to supporting electronic mail. The mail server works in conjunction with other programs to make up what is referred to as a messaging system. A messaging system includes all the applications to keep e-mail moving as it should. You use a client software like Outlook for retrieving mail from the server and for composing and sending messages.
