Track - Definition
A Track is the path in a magnetic surface, such as within a floppy disk, tape backup or hard drive, that actually holds the recorded information. On a disk platter, the tracks consist of circles, one inside of the other. On a tape, the tracks are parallel stripes that run the entire length of the tape.
