Y2K - Definition
Y2K is short for year 2000. As far as computers were concerned, there was a fear over the possibility of older hardware and software being unable to recognize the century change in a date. This was because many computer calenders only used the last two digits to determine the year. As a result, some of the outdated computers thought that the year 2000 was actually the year 1900.
